In modern warfare, the battle is not only fought in the trenches but also at a keyboard. Therefore, infrastructure for data transfer and communication increasingly plays a bigger role than ever before. This infrastructure has become exceedingly more important to defend, but also has become an important target on the opponent’s side. Information collected from social media plays a significant role in this.
Summary:
Scandinavian intelligence agencies identify a Russian infrastructural soft spot that potentially can cause major disturbances in Russian society and government and even for the military.
Destroying it will be a serious blow to the Russian war exertion and help Ukraine into a more favourable position for negotiations.
To bring this into reality, secret agents from Finland and Estonia Prior and Andriy team up with a Ukrainian surveyor Daryna. It appears to be a grueling task since they will not restrict themselves to the weak spot but they want to inflict the absolute maximum of damages.
If successful, the war will take a turn for the better for Ukraine. But first, they must find the exact position of the vulnerability and go from there by deploying an experimental destruction device.
If they succeed, what impact will their effort have on the ongoing war?

Writer Paul van Doorn surprised many in his book The Deep with a credible plot about the Nord Stream pipelines. A plot that later turned out to be extremely visionary. Now once again the writer’s imagination credibly turns reality into ‘what could have been’.

Motivation:
In reality, the war in Ukraine did not start in 2022, it started already back in 2014 when unmarked troops, later identified as Russians, occupied the Crimean Peninsula. The world noted that fact and moved on, leaving Putin with a big victory. When Russia eight years later initialized its special military action and invaded Ukraine with the intention to conquer it in three days and add it to the Soviet Union version 2, the world finally got the message and reacted.
Ever since it is early 2025 as I write this, the Ukrainian army has managed to stop Putin and Russia from taking anything more than they already had – quite the heroic endeavor for a David vs Goliath type of situation.
Lately, private initiatives to get money and buy material for the Ukrainian army have been launched. An organization called help99.co is going public with larger projects to buy light trucks for the Ukrainian troops at the frontlines. Rather than donating a couple of Euros, I decided to write this book and donate all of its earnings in full to his cause.
Obviously, the story had to be strongly related to the war. I hope I’ve succeeded in doing so, but I’m only an amateur in the secret agent business. I hope you like reading it and perhaps you can donate a few extra Euros to the Ukrainian joint case – and that’s not enough: you get to keep a book!

My work:
My shorter stories are characterized as coming quickly to the point and providing the reader with plenty of action. The longer stories provide more depth but are also specced with action. This book – a shorter story – is the same. Realistic weapon systems are deployed, and realistic situational sketches are used. Obviously, the book is fiction. But as usual with most of my books, there’s no reason for it not to be realistic…
